Rehabilitation of saline farmland in Central Asia using kendyr, and textile value creation as an alternative to cotton

Cotton cultivation, which has been established in Central Asia for more than 70 years, has led to far-reaching negative impacts on the region’s natural production resources in some cases. The project investigated options for the yield-oriented cultivation of kendyr on former cotton-growing sites, as well as the production of bast fibres suitable for textile processing.
