We create sustainable solutions for the entire textile value chain – from the selection of raw materials through production and use to the collection and recycling of materials. The aim is to conserve resources and establish circular alternatives to the linear economy.

The focus is on strategies for circular products: from the collection and sorting of used textiles, through technology-assisted fibre recovery, to consistently circular product design.

This involves the generation, analysis, networking and use of data to ensure transparency, efficiency, predictable recycling concepts and targeted cooperation. Interconnected systems are the key to a functioning circular economy.

We bring together research, industry, politics and society to drive forward holistic and practical concepts for a sustainable textile industry.

Concepts for the circular economy of textile products

They combine the design, use and return of products, components and materials, as well as analogue and digital elements, and help to develop a circular business model. They create resource-efficient products and keep materials in use.

Characterisation and processing of recycled fibres

They form the basis for consistent quality, safe use in high-quality products and the efficient utilisation of secondary raw materials. Through analysis, standards and process-appropriate processing, recycled materials are quality-assured and made economically viable.

Development of products containing recycled fibres

It combines design, functionality and quality with resource conservation and enhances the marketability of circular textiles. It often requires a tailored selection of materials and manufacturing processes in order to combine sustainability with performance.
