Functionalisation

The specific functional properties of technical textiles are only achieved once their surfaces have been modified or they have been processed into composites. This is the role of Functionalisation, finishing and composite manufacturing.

We are driven by the key questions facing the textile industry’s future. How can I achieve specific product properties? Which materials could be used for this? What is the influence of the structure or combination of materials? Which processes can be used to manufacture the product? How can I achieve customised production? How can I save energy and resources in production? Which harmful substances can be minimised in the product? Which bio-based raw materials and products can be used?

Fundamental and strictly application-oriented research and development projects operate within this dynamic field. The development and application of new technologies, in collaboration with industry, leads to new ideas and, subsequently, to product innovations that become established on the market.
