Technical woven and knitted fabrics

We develop technical textiles for the sports, health and lifestyle sectors, climate protection and the environment, agriculture and geotechnics, protective equipment, and numerous industrial applications. Innovative woven and knitted fabrics play a major role in this, with properties tailored to the specific application. In addition, we design machinery and equipment for textile handling, manufacturing and testing.

We have an extensive range of machinery and expertise in the processing of technical fibres and yarns made from novel natural materials as well as carbon, basalt and aramid. Our expertise lies in the textile integration of functional materials such as wires, tubes, hollow filaments and conductive structures. A key focus is the development of smart technical textiles. With a focus on sustainability, we are working on high-performance fibre composites made from renewable raw materials and textile technology solutions for greening cities and infrastructure.

Warp knitting

Spacer fabrics (5–32 mm) for upholstery and protective gear, nets for safety, transport and fishing, coarse/super-coarse mats and grids for erosion control and vegetation restoration, spacer grids for concrete reinforcement, textiles for thermal and humidity regulation and cooling

Knitting

Flat, circular and spaced knitting for protectors, bandages, padding and healthcare textiles with functions such as heating, cooling, electrical muscle stimulation (EMS, EMA), moisture regulation and parameter monitoring, incorporating 3D printing for stabilisation

Embroidery

Technical embroidery using the tailored fibre placement method (including roll-to-roll processes), integration of sensors, actuators, LEDs, sequins, and high-performance materials such as carbon fibre and glass, etc., embroidery on non-textile materials such as wood and minerals

Weaving

Tape weaving in widths of 15 cm – 34 cm, firm selvedges, double weft, two shuttle levels, tubular structures, profiles, rope weaving with diameters of 10 – 20 mm

Strand formation
