The Sächsisches Textilforschungsinstitut e. V. (STFI) is an independent industrial research organisation. Our partners are primarily small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), whose innovative capacity we strengthen through application-oriented research. As a leading textile institute, we are the first point of contact for resource-efficient technologies, efficient processes and digitalisation within the textile industry and among users of textile materials. Our team of interdisciplinary scientists, engineers and laboratory technicians brings your ideas to life. Our technical facilities and laboratories offer you a comprehensive portfolio of industrial and semi-industrial scale equipment to ensure rapid transfer into industrial processes. We support our clients through our strong network within the international industry and European research environment.

The STFI as an employer

At the STFI in Chemnitz, more than 150 scientists, technicians and laboratory assistants work together to develop innovative solutions for the textiles of tomorrow. Working in interdisciplinary teams, they create new materials, sustainable technologies and practical testing and certification services for industry and research.

The STFI offers attractive career opportunities for experienced professionals as well as for university graduates seeking a solid start in applied textile research. At the same time, the institute is deeply committed to training the next generation of scientists, particularly through internships for school pupils and students, supervision of dissertations and final theses, and as a recognised industry partner of the Glauchau University of Cooperative Education.
