Career at STFI
The Sächsisches Textilforschungsinstitut e.V. (STFI) has been supporting our project partners as a competent service provider for research and development in the field of technical textiles for over 30 years. Currently, 160 dedicated scientists, technicians and laboratory assistants are working together to develop innovative solutions for the textiles of the future and are processing testing and certification assignments. We not only offer exciting tasks for experienced professionals, but also provide university graduates with the best possible start to their careers. The training of young scientists also receives a lot of attention at the institute. In addition to general and student internships, we also offer supervision for student research projects and theses and are a recognised practice partner of the Staatliche Studienakademie Glauchau. If you are interested in professional training in textile research, you are welcome to join us as a trainee.

The backpack project
Internship
at STFI
Manufacturing a knitted backpack shows how work is carried out in the various STFI departments concerning weaving and knitting, finishing and textile testing. The interns gain an insight into the training offered by the STFI and learn about plant technology and working methods. The self-made backpack can be taken home at the end of the internship.
The duration of the internship takes five days. The internship is aimed at students in the 9th to 12th grades to help them choose a career and to generate enthusiasm for our work.
