Test Method Development
The range of services offered by Sächsisches Textilforschungsinstitut e.V. not only includes testing according to international norms and standards, but also the development of product- or application-related test methods. In the case of complex tasks, the processes are usually developed within research projects, or also at short notice and customer-oriented as part of a testing order. An interdisciplinary team with testing skills is available for this purpose. In addition, extensive mechanical production using modern CNC machines can be used to produce the elements required for test modification. These processes are supported by employees from the fields of electrical engineering, process, and control technology.
Protective textiles against laser radiation
- Development of a standard-like test and evaluation method for laser protection textiles (clothing and gloves) with the German Laser Laser Zentrum Hannover
- Development of innovative textiles that ensure a high level of protection against laser radiation together with manufacturers of protective clothing
Material development with high-performance fibres
High-performance fibres have successfully established themselves in many areas of application. However, this should not lead to the conclusion that each of these fibres (e.g. glass, carbon, basalt) represents a solution for every application.
Application-oriented test methods are developed to demonstrate suitability of such high-performance fibres for a specific application. Thus, material developments from or in combination with high-performance fibres can be characterised in a targeted manner.
Text Testing of safety nets and air cargo safety nets
In the STFI, a net test rig for safety nets was developed and set up as result of various research projects. Reproducible and application-oriented tests of a wide variety of net structures are possible with this test rig.
