International Cooperation/Transfer

INTERREG Europe

INTERREG Europe was a European Union Structural Funds programme aimed at improving cohesion policy through the exchange of experience and examples of best practice and joint initiatives between the 28 EU Member States plus Norway and Switzerland. It supported regional and local government authorities across Europe in regional and policy development and policy implementation of structural funding programmes by promoting international cooperation projects. The programme provided opportunities to exchange ideas and experiences in the field of policy and to achieve improvements for European residents and municipalities. The programme focused on four main priorities: Research, technological development and innovation; Competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs); Low-carbon economy; and Environmental protection and resource efficiency. Financial resources of €360 million from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) were allocated in the period from 2014 to 2020.
