Intensive courses
We offer courses for the qualification and further training of your employees in different modules.
Especially, if your company is specialised, it can be of interest to get to know and experience other textile sub-areas directly – theoretically and practically. Depending on the scope and content, the courses are conducted as basic or advanced courses. Participants receive extensive training and information material.
The theoretical approach takes place in modernly equipped consultation rooms, the practical realisation and demonstrations are carried out directly on the systems or in the laboratories.
In our intensive courses, we provide you with textile expertise over several days. We currently offer courses in the field of testing and certification as well as technology and processes.
Textile – testing and certification
This seminar guides you through the mechanical-technological textile tests based on the textile production chain:
- Brief introduction to standardisation
- Classification of fibres
- Selected fibre tests
- Classification of yarns
- Selected yarn tests
- Classification of fabrics
- Fabric tests (fabric setting, strength tests, surface tests, bending resistance)
- Presentation of the influencing factors in textile reprocessing with the help of the Sinner's washing circle
- Overview and explanation of textile labelling/care symbols
- Inspection/explanation of the laundry technology available in-house
- Overview of the various drying processes
- Differences in the sample preparation of woven and knitted fabrics for determining the dimensional change
- Independent realisation of a dimensional change (measuring in/carrying out the laundry/measuring) under supervision
- Overview of possible post-treatments of a textile fabric
The seminar includes the teaching of the training content based on the extensive documentation. In addition, the content is further consolidated and expanded by visiting the relevant laboratories.
The most common methods are presented and explained, starting with the fibres through to the testing of fabrics. The meaning of the most important technical terms is also explained. The influence of textile care on the service life and properties of clothing is also discussed. The differences between household and commercial textile reprocessing are briefly outlined and information on proper care is provided.

Textile – technology and processes
The seminar provides an overview of the production of textile surfaces with warp knitting machines. Theoretical content is combined with practical work in order to deepen and apply the knowledge in practical work.
The course is designed to impart theoretical knowledge about knitted surfaces and practical work on warp knitting machines. After the course, you will have a comprehensive general knowledge of knitted textile surfaces and their properties and will be able to operate a warp knitting machine.
Main topics:
- General production of knitted fabrics (structure of the stitch, explanation of terms, single and multiple thread technique, overview of warp knitting and knitting machines),
- Practical warp knitting (construction of warp knitting machines, set-up, production of knitted fabrics),
- Knitting elements and their functions,
- Creating bindings, taking into account the binding elements and their influence on properties,
- Pattern gears (chain links, cam discs, electric gears),
- Special features of warp knitting using additional equipment (largely theoretical).
- Right/right, right/left, compound knitting,
- Yarn infeed and other calculations for knitted fabrics,
- Testing of knitted fabrics
Dates | 3 - 6 March 2025 3 - 6 November 2025 |
Schedule | 4 days: daily from 9.00 am - 3.30 pm |
Venue | Sächsisches Textilforschungsinstitut e.V. Annaberger Straße 240 09125 Chemnitz Germany |
Fee | 2.225,00 EUR (plus VAT.) |
Target group | The course is aimed at trainees, employees and career changers in the entire textile chain (processing industry, quality assurance, product development, product management). |
Others | The course is organised as an interactive seminar. Our lecturers offer the opportunity to respond to participants' questions and problems. In the technical centres and laboratories, the learning success is significantly supported and consolidated by practical exercises. The seminar includes the inspection and demonstration of selected warp knitting machines, the preparation of sectional warp beams and a general overview of the technical centre for woven and knitted fabrics. All participants will receive a certificate of attendance and comprehensive training documentation. Drinks and snacks will be provided during breaks. |
The number of participants is limited to 5 persons. |
