Raw material classification of recycled fibres

Research for an optimised process chain for sustainable fibre preparation

The aim of the "Raw material classification of recycled fibres" project was to produce yarn from used textiles with the lowest possible loss of properties by optimising the tearing processes in the treatment of textile waste in combination with adjustments to the spinning process. To this end, a methodical procedure was developed for the assessment of torn products, with the help of which these products can be classified; this is known as raw material classification.

The project focussed on two selected representatives from a wide range of raw materials, cotton and meta-aramid.
