The European Capital of Culture 2025, Chemnitz, opened its doors to textile designers, textile artists and experts from the fields of fashion, art and textiles: the Tour de LOOP on 26 and 27 May 2025 took participants on an exclusive professional tour of one of Europe's most traditional and innovative textile regions. 19 visitors from Europe explored Chemnitz and its textile region. They came from the Netherlands, Austria, the Czech Republic, Great Britain and Germany.

Under the motto ‘Shaping the future now’, the Sächsisches Textilforschungsinstitut e.V. (STFI) is presenting two pioneering textile developments at this year's Innovation Day for SMEs organised by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE). The event will take place as an open-air trade fair on the outdoor grounds of AiF Projekt GmbH in Berlin-Pankow and offers small and medium-sized companies a platform to present their innovative projects and results, which have been supported by the BMWE's open-topic innovation funding programme.

On April 3, 2025, the STFI hosted its third Akademie Breakfast. In addition to donuts, bagels and coffee, the topic of employee motivation was on the table, bringing together companies from Saxony's textile industry as well as representatives from Chemnitz University of Technology, the Federal Employment Agency and the Chemnitz Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

On 11 and 12 March, the 17th Symposium TEXTILE FILTER took place in Chemnitz, Germany. Every two years, experts from science and industry come together to discuss the latest developments in the field of textile filter media. This year's event focused on sustainability, bio-based materials and digital simulations to optimise filtration processes. The symposium was accompanied by an exhibition and an excursion to the host, the Sächsisches Textilforschungsinstitut e.V.

The STFI Symposium TEXTILE FILTER will take place for the 17^th time on 11 and 12 March focusing on innovative, high-performance textile filter media for various applications and systems for air, gas, liquid and particle filtration against the background of changing technology.

At the SME Innovation Day organised by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK), innovative SMEs will present themselves as the driving force of the German economy. Under the motto "The Future. - Digital. Transformative. Resilient.', the event promises exciting insights into cutting-edge technologies and shows how entrepreneurs from all over Germany are driving technological change.

Under the motto "Shifting the Limits", Techtextil and Texprocess took place from 23 to 26 April 2024 at the Frankfurt Fair and Exhibition Centre. 38,000 visitors came to the industry's most important international marketplace to find out about product innovations along the textile value chain. Under the new motto "Fascination Textile", STFI presented the results and demonstrators of research and development work for tomorrow's high-end textile products and solutions.

STFI will be presenting fascinating, high-end textile products and solutions of tomorrow at Techtextil 2024. The highlights from current research results and innovations provide an insight into the digitalisa-tion of textile production, show applications for 3D printing and smart technical textiles and provide examples of particularly sustainably designed products as well as innovative approaches for protective and medical textiles.

At this year's JEC World, STFI will be presenting highlights from carbon fibre recycling as well as a new approach to hemp-based bast fibres, which have promising properties as reinforcement in lightweight construction. The 16^th "recycling for textiles" colloquium took place in Chemnitz on 6 and 7 December 2023. 70 experts from the fields of textile recycling, textile machine construction and textile production exchanged views on the latest developments, trends and innovations in the industry.

Occupational safety and health – A+A in Düsseldorf is the world's largest and most important event when it comes to safety and health at work. With the leitmotif "Impulses for a better working world", this year's focus is set on new ideas, products and solutions that help to make the working world safer, more efficient and healthier.

The sixth Exchange of Experience on Exhaust Air Purification of the Sächsische Textilforschungsinstituts e.V. (STFI) took place on 6 September 2023 in Chemnitz. With a total of 41 participants, the exchange of experience was again held as a hybrid event.

On 15 June 2023, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK) invites you to the Innovation Day for SMEs. This year's international lightweight construction trade fair JEC WORLD will take place from 25 to 27 April 2023 in Paris. The Sächsische Textilforschungsinstitut e.V. (STFI) will present its latest highlights from textile lightweight engineering and textile recycling at the stand of the Saxony Trade & Invest Corporation.

The world's leading nonwovens fair INDEX^TM is taking place at Lake Geneva from 18 to 21 April 2023. A trade fair team from the Sächsisches Textilforschungsinstituts e.V. (STFI) will be on site presenting news from nonwovens research at STFI, such as a bio-based hygiene nonwoven, the recycling of high-performance fibres using the example of the VliesSMC project, an innovative tubular liner system and water-jet nonwovens made from recycled fibres will be on show.

The Automotive Lightweight Technology Expo is one of six specialised exhibitions of AUTOMOTIVE WORLD and Asia's leading trade fair for automotive lightweight technologies. STFI and Rucks Maschinenbau GmbH, Glauchau, presented the results of their long-standing cooperation at a joint exhibition stand from 25 to 27 January 2023.

Project futureTEX funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research as part of the "Twenty20 – Partnership for Innovation" programme ended last year. Since its launch in 2014, more than 30 research projects have been set up to make a decisive contribution to the transformation from the traditional textile industry to the TechTex industry in Germany.
